After 28 years, in 2010, continuing the institutional development process and looking for the consolidation of its educational and social activities, the FELUMA has proposed to develop a new educational campus in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, the Feluma Faculty – Health, Technology and Science.

The Feluma Faculty is located in the Lagoa Santa city, Minas Gerais, which counts with an estimated population of 60,787 people. Located at 41 kilometers from Belo Horizonte, the city presents, at the same time, traditional interior elements and external influence of the political, economic and social capital, that receives because, fundamentally, of its nearness to the capital, with the Minas Gerais Administrative Headquarter (18 km) and to the Confins International Airport (5 km).

At this juncture, the offer of new graduation courses contributes as work qualification element, qualifying the region in the economic, technological, social and spatial perspectives.

Great growth and appreciation are realized, in the city and region. That can be noted, especially, in the real estate market and in the development, such as, for example, the construction of the Gol Air Lines S/A Maintenance Center; the acquisition of the VMI by the Philips Brazil; the revitalization of the tourist center, the caste area of Lagoa Santa, which anchors the Serra do Cipó and the construction of the Administrative Center of the Minas Gerais Government, immeasurable work idealized from a partnership between the state and federal governments. All of this foments, greatly, the people circulation, commerce, technological advancement and the services provided in the region.



The Feluma Faculty, seeking to achieve elements for analysis and better comprehension of the educative process, considering the intentionality of every educative action on teaching-learning planned situations, as well as the multidimensionality of the educational phenomenon, it uses many approaches that guide the teaching-learning process. It considers, in this process, that the information from different sources, if analyzed together, enable complementary forms of interpreting the educational reality.

The Feluma Faculty encourages pro-active attitudes in its student, seeking the development of competencies and abilities required for the educative process. Interdependent projects and integrated among them make the difference, when practice and theory intertwine themselves by technical visits, mini-courses, seminaries, diverse extension activities, study of cases and the research, with appropriated subjects to the period of each course.

The walk along each course is made in the horizontal and vertical disciplinary integration and in the theory and practice integration. The Pedagogical Support Nucleus contributes for such walk, responsible for attending to teachers and students, while the Institutional Evaluation seeks for a better comprehension of the process evolution.

The courses developed in the Feluma Faculty are referenced on: perspectives considered in the human formation: creativity, technical competence, knowledge construction, citizenship and ethics; market demands; philosophical-educational fundaments that base the institution educative action; goals and objectives expressed in the School Regiment and PPI; legal provisions that regulate the superior teaching.



Seeking out to provide a generalist, humanist, critical and reflexive formation, endowing the student with technical and scientific knowledge, enabling them to act in the job market, with ethical commitment and social responsibility, the Feluma Faculty established a relation of disciplines in the curricular structure of the provided courses, interdisciplinary purpose and development of competences and abilities. The professors will develop interdisciplinary activities, enabling a systemic and integrator vision of the entire course.

Further activities such as study of cases, technical visits and seminaries promote the interdisciplinary characteristic, insofar as they mobilize competences besides of that developed by the current discipline. The learning becomes more significant when is made by the interaction, where the students have to make decision, make teamwork, establish priorities, accomplish deadlines, administering time, make inferences, among other established behaviors.

The curricular internships have interdisciplinary character and should develop the collaborative spirit in the student, providing the assimilation of the built knowledge in the different disciplines of the course, involving active participation, supported by the internship professors.

As integrant part of the curricular structure, the complementary and extension activities are found, which are planned and offered in each semester by the graduation and technology courses. Throughout the semester, lectures and conferences given by intern professors and professionals that act in the job market are offered for crediting the hours of complementary activities.
